STORYLINE QUERIES
This has been written after quite a bit of fretting, frustration and contemplation. Hence why this isn't a straight-forward format of SL requests.
Over the years RPing, I have noticed substantial changes in how things are run, what is considered a necessity for a good community/scene, and what the point of RPing is to people overall. Needless to say, there's been a tremendous change in the past four/five years alone.
What used to be a series of random AIM scenes leaving characters to develop relationships of all kinds on their own (not just love interests) and no use of character's IMing one another nor shock over how much a person writers per reply; usually having absolutely no idea who the mod was, and no pre-decided SLs whatsoever outside of the odd use of a relative, has dived into the opposite end of the spectrum.
You can go on for hours pointing fingers as to what the cause was for the shift to become an SL-reliant/plottage uber alles format among other things, but to be honest I have ranted far too often over it and I rather spend my time playing rather than whining.
As things shifted, I tried to adapt in order to continue playing. I accepted pre-determined storylines, I tolerated my characters spending more time having IM conversations than being put into scenes, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. In this I jeopardized the characters I have had for many years, and the future of any new characters which had/have come to life; and really that leaves someone incredibly jaded and cynical over something that was there solely for fun.
Because of this, I am stating I do not do SLs. It just doesn't work for me, I find it too hard to deal with and overly restrictive. But before you promptly click away from this page, I do offer a very basic and quite effective alternative -
I have accumulated a substantial amount of characters over the years. Because of this, it gives something of a selection that can be picked from. I will be setting up a post that entails the PB/PBs, stats and a short bio of each of my strongest characters (typically falling into one of three categories), and some of which I never had a chance to bring out of minor exposure and would like to develop them more. This gives the opportunity for other writers to get a feel for who their characters could play against - You see one you like, want to see how they interact with one of yours? You leave a comment or IM me with who it is you wish to have come out and play, and who it is you'd like to see them interact with.
Simple as that. No pre-set SL, no history plotting needing to be done. Just raw, random interaction between characters in a scene, and the most precious opportunity of all to have them develop organically.
If it doesn't work out? Well two things could happen - you may be curious to see how another character is like, or we say So Long and thanks for the fish. No passive aggressive bullshit or bitterness to build up.
If it does work out? We rock the fuck out. K? K. |

▪ I have been RPing for at least eight years to roughly ten years.
▪ I am strictly PB based RP only; celeb just isn't my deal.
▪ Much like celeb, I do not do fandoms either.
▪ I'm an oldschool RPer - this being I am about the writing. I believe in character development, very minimal structure SL use and the freedom of seeing things flourish on their own. Sometimes characters take things in a different direction and I don't believe in dictating or planning out every single thing that happens.
▪ Character journal entries range from first person account to narrative.
▪ I play in descriptive third person; can be rather lengthy but I value the course of descriptive scenes written as they should be. I will say that I don't expect people to aim for novel-length replies if they don't really do it - just something of quality that can give me the ability to have something to reply with.
▪ I'm a huge lover of AIM, but as most people don't have the time I've learned to use threading as well. If AIM is offered I'm more than happy to take it up, but if threading is the only option available I'm willing to do it.
▪ I write graphically and I'm not squeamish about hard/morally questionable content or sexual scenes; from the fluffy to the purely fucked up, I enjoy all.
▪ I'm all for drama, but only on the condition that it is within realistic boundaries. Awful things happen in real life, but without a sense of realism and maturity, everything simply falls apart.
▪ I have played a vast arrange of both male and female characters; from soft spoken artists to outlandish rockstars to hardened criminals. I like variety and there isn't much I would shy away from.
▪ Communication is the key. I expect some form of OOC basis to get and give feedback on how things are going and things of that nature - that doesn't mean I'm looking to hear about your life day in day out instead of playing. I already have friends in real life; just remember why we're interacting in the first place. Just remember balance is a beautiful thing.
▪ A lot of my characters are linked to one another in some way (and after 8+ years there are a lot); there's a very good chance that in RPing with me, you will end up with cameo appearances from other characters as well.
▪ If you expect my character to do something that is out of their nature simply to please your storyline ideals, or make your character act out of their nature solely to make things easier for some other storyline you have coming up, kindly read that little comment on drama and realism. Then please do fuck off.
▪ I have no issues with playing het/femme/slash; sexuality goes with what fits the character.
▪ I'm on Australian Eastern Standard Time; because of this usually when it's afternoon for me, it's late evening for the vast majority. Despite that, my online time varies, so it's very possible I will be online when it's morning/afternoon for you.
▪ I don't play with babies. One way to annoy me easily is to expect me to choose what's going on and start every time. If I wanted to do that I wouldn't play with others. I like to work back and forth in who starts something; mutual decision making a good thing; it's part of growing up. |
